If you’ve got a complex legal issue, Jol is your man. With more than 20 years experience in the legal world, he’s well-known for his employment law, civil and commercial litigation work. He deals with clients in Hawke’s Bay, throughout New Zealand and the globe. Jol is a sought-after advocate who prides himself on having a customer-oriented approach. He has appeared as counsel in many complex, high-profile cases from the Employment Relations Authority through to the Supreme Court.
After working for law firms in Wellington, Australia and the UK, Jol moved to Hawke’s Bay to take up a partnership in a local firm and get away from windy Wellington. After several years, he set up Napier firm Brown & Bates with Libby, in the heart of Napier.
He’s mad about cricket and in his spare time Jol enjoys a spot of golf and is quite fond of his backyard hammock.
